  1. Hello
I have been using always my computer and a decent capture card (canopus advc-1394) to convert my vhs to dvd.
Now i'm a bit tired of this so i was thinking in buy a dvd recorder to do it mor eeasily and fast.
I don't wanted to buy a simple dvd recorder with vcr because i don't let me edit and cut my videos detailed. and a dvd recorder with hd built in only but without vcr wont help me at this moment because my vcr is broken so i need a new vcr too.. that's why i was thinking in a "2 in 1".

Anyone can give me suggestions on what to buy?

    Thank you

JVC made one with all three but I don't know if it's still available. DVD recorders with hard drives are hard to find any more even though they make the most sense.

You obviously have a VCR so I suggest choosing a DVD recorder with HDD but without VHS.

  3. the "problem" is that my vcr is faulty so i need a new one, so i was thinking in a "all in one"

That both makes sense and doesn't make sense. While an all-in-one solves all the problems it is hard to find (maybe has to be bought used), has a VCR you won't need after making your copies, has more things that can go wrong with it and probably costs more than buying a replacement VCR for the interim along with the HDD-equipped DVD recorder. The only real benefit I see in an all-in-one unit is it takes up less space than two components.

The DVD recorder manufacturers seem to treat customers who want combo units as people who want low-end gear. The better quality recorders aren't combo units.

Of course, that's my observation and opinion and others may disagree.

Not sure if it's available in your location, and it's not a current model now as far as i know, but i bought one last xmas for my elderly mother and it's been great so far and. She uses it alot due to being almost house bound. The guide plus system (UK) is very good to... only downside I can think of is it only has an 80gb hdd
