Hi. I wish to attempt to restore some old videos of mine. I've already digitized them, and they're in MPG format.
On some, there's an occasional faint logo, is it possible to mask this, especially since its only during some parts of the video?
On one specific one I have, there's a thin black line through a small section of the video, is it possible to cover this up?
Is there any way to generally improve the quality? Like, something standard that can just make the video better to watch (eg: touchups, minor stuff like that)?
And finally, the least important. Sometimes, there's some video problems at the top of the screen - signs of an old tape. Is it possible to remove this?
Many thanks,
Cyan.

You can load MPEG into VirtualDubMod and use various filters:
For the logo, the Virtualdub filter "delogo" works quite well, especially if it's partly transparent.
See https://forum.videohelp.com/viewtopic.php?t=280003
The black line: maybe try http://www.compression.ru/video/logo_removal/index_en.html
This is also called a "logo remover", but it's for "static opaque" ones, so it may work on your line. The MSU group have a bunch of other filters that may be of interest: http://www.compression.ru/video/public_filters.htm
And you can easily mask off the noise at the top by cropping, and adding a black bar if you like.
And look at this recent thread for more ideas: https://forum.videohelp.com/viewtopic.php?t=315009
