So my dad is an artist and wants me to put his work on a DVD so that he can hand them out like business cards.

I tried playing with his After Effects but quickly got lost and got tons of errors saying it couldn't read a .avi file for some reason...

Basically I want to make a slideshow of still frames, put in a couple 3-5 minutes animation clips, and have an About/Contact Me section.

I'm sure there isn't an all in one that will do everything I want, but basically I have no idea of where or how to start with something like this.

I've seen a few programs that do the menus, but how would I do the slideshow and mini clips and then make it all one big ole DVD?

Thanks in advance for any help.

You need Premiere, not AfterEffects. AfterEffects is for sprucing up something that's already done.

And this isn't DVD authoring, as you haven't even created your video yet. AFTER you've edited your video and got it satisified, THEN you're ready to put onto a DVD, THEN we're talking about DVD authoring.

Proshow Producer is an excellent program for doing that. I used it for a client of mine to hand out dvd's as well for a giftbasket collection. Worked great!
