Well I have today and Monday off and I thought I'd finally take the time to do a good backup. I just backed up my family photos and now I'm on to my multimedia.
All along I've been putting my tv captures on dvd but only spotty backups for other stuff. So now I'll at least have some protection in the near future should anything bad happen......
Though I'll probably curse myself by saying this but I haven't had a serious conflict with my pc since I bought it over two years ago.
just a little reminder post to others to take some time to backup your files. You never know what can happen......

well I finally did defrags on both my hard drives. I did my video cap drive after I emptied it and took like only a minute to scan.
I did my main drive and must have taken at least 10 hours! Its an 80gb drive with 14gigs or so free. I started it at midnight and it just recently completed. Wow.
Actually I believe this is the first time I have defragged either hard drive. Hopefully that will keep things running smoothly for awhile. I've only had a few minor snags since I've had this computer so all in all its very good and now it should be decent for awhile.I just was putting off the defrag because I knew it would take hours I just didn't think it would take almost half a day. Oh well maintenance has to get done sometime.....

It's best to backup if your data files are of any importance to you. Mine hitachi drive was having some trouble.. pc hang when the CD ROM is ON. Tell tale sign... the drive gave out a periodic clicking noise. Anyway, I manage to backup all the data to a new 320gig Seagate drive. I also keep backup on a DVD-RAM disc. Just to make sure that all those plug-in softwares that I bought are in the safe place. Most of these vendors don't provide replacement copies.
