Once every now and then, when I play a home made DVD, it tends to freeze my player. I cannot advance my chapters, nor can i eject the DVD, via remote nor eject button on player. I have to unplug, replug, upon then I can press eject to remove dvd.

What could be the problem ?

Thank you all in advance for replies.

Have you tried with different dvd media? Some players are very picky about the media. www.videohelp.com/dvdmedia and www.nomoarecoasters.com

Thanks for the reply Rick. The interesting thing is that when I use the same media, of a different movie, it plays, so if it were a media issue, I feel that ALL of the dvds from that spindle would be useless. But this is not the case.

Could it maybe be a burning issue ?

Much more info is required. Is it a backup?, conversion from another format?, software used?, media type?

ok psx will do, but how does nero have anything to do with the burn, and how does imgburn prove to be better for this condition ?

Nero isn't your problem. Inconsistancy and crap media is your problem. You go from taiyo yuden to optodisc. You are all over the place. Why ? Stick to the taiyo yuden end of the rainbow and you'll be ok. You don't actually say which ones freeze, but I bet you it aint the taiyos or the sonys. DON'T buy media simply by whatever bargain you find on the self, but stick to one or two GOOD TYPES and buy whatever the cost.

I agree. The only "good" media you mentioned was the TYs. It's simply amazing how many times this very ? is asked. The answer is 99% of the time due to bad and inconsistent media. Nero is NOT the best at burning dvd structure. Rip you backups to ISO and burn with imgburn 2.
Backing up you DVDs requires that you stick to a DVD brand and burning method that provides consistency.

the media mentioned ARE the brands that I have had occasional problems with...even the ty`s......I started investing in ty`s because I too thought the intial problem was bad media, but it seems that its may not be a media issue, when a ty had crapped out too (I even checked the media code to make sure the ty was authentic). cant quite put my finger on this one.....maybe its time to upgrade my burner as well ?

thanks in advance for all replies.
