    TV: Madonna, "The Confession Tour"

First, So far, this concert looks awsome. I'm not a Madonna fan, but I do
like her stuff, once in a while. My first impression (when I saw it in
the tv guide) was, ahh.. who cares.. I'm not gonna go through the trouble of
recording it. But after a couple of minutes watching, (as I was recording
it anyway -- thanks to the quick record button) and I said, no way. I'm gonna
record this. And, so here I am, recording it (see below)

    Its awsome !!

    The Short:
Q1: Has anyone determined (before I do) what PAL->NTSC conversion this convert
    was run through ??

Q2: If anyone with an HDTV, and is viewing it, can you tell me if it is
being *HD* broadcasted in Widescreen ??

Today, I can't get my antenna to pull in NBC, though sometimes it just
comes in perfectly, and others, no signal. Oh well. I actually wanted
to record it to vhs tape anway, because quality is not important in this
situation, even on vhs tape. I know.. sounds azz-backwards, but who cares.

The LONG: for those who are interested or have nothing better to do..
Ok. Here it is.. Because this source is very good, (to my surprise) I am
recording this to my VCR on standard grade tapes (Fuji) and in EP mode.

I did a quick rewind (during commercial) to test play it to see what the
turn-around quality would be, and also, to find out weather this concert
was run through a Film conversion of some sort. ( I was hoping it was all
    Film, but.. )

At first sight, watching the video, I noticed that they were overlaying
other video in the background, hence the large plasma screen in the back-
ground. And after watching for a quick moment, I came to a conclusion that
this concert would have to result in a conversion "optimized" for this
unique situation. My thoughts were, that it's a PAL source.. because of
the unique smoothness. (I don't know where this Tour took place, but it
could have been in a PAL land of some sourt -- Tours usually mean PAL land)

I have a feeling that this is a PAL->NTSC conversion of some sort.
I think that my Doctor Who (AVIsynth pal->ntsc) filter might work
on this source with a little tuning.

    Anyways.

In any case, maybe this broadcase will be split, where those who have no
HD will get the Fullscreen (and *whatever* follows this format) and those
who *have* HD will get Widescreen, etc.

Now, since I have the Fullscreen, I am (this topic) is mainly geared in
    that light.

Sooo.. this is an Analog Cable and Fullscreen scenario..

That means, salt-n-pepper noise and VHS EP recording to contend with, and
I'm working on some filter chain process (have been for a while now) and
I can't wait for this challeng to start, not to mention, this is a great
convert, Madonna -- what a hobby!!!

    I don't know.. any comments, anyone ??

    ** Analog Cable -> JVC S-VHS HR-S3910U [EP mode] -> ADVC-100[IRE: 0.0]
    and

    ** Analog Cable -> JVC S-VHS HR-S3910U [EP mode] -> ADVC-100[IRE: 0.0]

    Regarding the pics..
    * Note, ADVC-100 IRE 7.5 setup would kill this vhs recording.
    * I have deteremined that the proper setup should be 0.0 instead.

    Cheers,
