I've found the program Auto GK a few days ago and been encoding since :P But i've got into some problems. First problem: The burned in subtitles is way out of sync - how come? Playing the source-files used for the conversion has no problems displaying them right :S And you can't re-sync the burned in subsWaste of a few hours.
Second problem: You can't "search" in a DivX file on the DVD-recorder - So, wondered if you could rip a DVD and convert it to a playable FORMAT for the Samsung HR-738 and play it from extern HDD ect. with menu's ?
Hope for some advise![]()

Are you converting PAL to NTSC or NTSC to PAL in AutoGK ? I don't believe it can alter the speed of the subtitles, which would be required if you changed format. Subtitle workshop can do this for you though.
I don't know your player, but all the players I have used can FF/RW at different speeds through Divx/Xvid avi files, and also jump to a designated time point. I suspect that your player cannot transfer Divx movies to the HDD, nor play them back from there.Read my blog here.

I'll try to make myself a little more clear
I'm trying to convert my PAL movies to DivX - which works for most of my films. Somehow i encounter subtitle problems with some of them. I find it weird that my subs are in sync when playing back the vobs but out of sync when the sobs are encoded. I don't understand what you mean with Pal -> NTSC / NTSC -> PAL. The reason i mentioned NTSC was because i couldn't get audio on the encoded files when encoding from NTSC - only from PAL.
Oh. My player CAN play DivX files from an external HDD or from the internal - but i can't FF/RW when playing the AVI's. Just seen a DivX movie from the external drive
Thank you for the reply -
He mentioned NTSC/PAL because (for example), if you were converting an NTSC DVD to PAL avi using Auto GK, the subtitles would be out of sync.
As Guns1inger also stated, all of the Divx capable standalones that I have used, also allow FF/RW of all files. If yours does not, then that is a hardware issue. You just have to deal with it or get a new player.Google is your Friend -
My divx player came with a default setting of PAL output for all formats, so NTSC was converted to PAL as well. For some videos this was fine, for others it caused sync issues (both subs and audio). I solved this by changing the output settings to output a native signal based on input, so PAL video produced PAL output, and NTSC video produced true NTSC output. No more sync issues. Might be worth a look in your case, if your TV is capable of displaying both formats.
