Hi there,
I wonder if anyone can tell me how to convert a AVI file to DVD (VIDEO_TS folders) with selectable subtitles only -- without burned ones. I followed the "How To" precisely and yet the resulting video always comes with burned subtitles, in addition to the selectable ones.
I think it's a very basic question, and I'm sorry to bother you with this. But I swear I searched a lot for an answer, and nothing I found solved the problem.
What I'm doing is:
Source format: AVI
Target format: DVD mpeg2enc (with Set 3:2 enabled)
Autosize to DVD 16:9
Subtitle format: .srt
Decode with Quicktime
Everything else is default (including VOB Subtitles uncheked).
I'd appreciate any help on this.

This may be a Perian feature, which finds the subtitles if the name and location matches, and QuickTime is used. This would result in burned-in subtitles.
1/ Temporarily disable the subtitle feature of Perian in the Mac OS System Preferences (turn off Load External Subtitles), or
2/ Temporarily rename the subtitle file so that it doesn't match anymore (like adding an "x" as the first character of the filename).
