    Please can anybody help?

I’ve been using Nero 7 to compile DVDs with varied success over the past year. I have to say it’s one of the most unreliable pieces of software I’ve ever seen. However …

About a month ago NeroVision decided to only work with the latest project I’ve been working on. All of the other projects it listed in the opening page, but when clicked on NeroVision simply closed and I was returned to the Windows GUI. I could tolerate that given that I had finished with those projects, but now it also refuses to open my latest project (which I’ve worked on for hours!) and again immediately closes and reverts back to the Windows front screen. No error message is ever given. I’ve tried reloading Nero and wiping drivers but nothing seems to work. I’m running Norton, but I’ve tried Nero with Norton switched off.

Please tell me I haven’t lost all those hours. I’m even loathe to start all over again in case the same thing happens a few hours down the line.

Any help would be VERY gratefully received. Many thanks in anticipation.

    Hi,
Do you have access to an older version of Nero Vision Express?? I was using Nero 7 and found it also to be buggy beyond belief so I rolled back to my original stable version (Nero Vision Express 3) that came bundled with the "Nero Digital Pro" package that is still available for $29.99 US.

No - sorry, I don't. I bought this fresh due to recommendations on different forums. A big mistake!

You may have already done this, but when uninstalling Nero, you need to run Nero Clean Tool to remove 'remnants' before reinstalling. http://ww2.nero.com/nero7/enu/General_CleanTool.html

Nero 7 seems to have more than it's share of problems. I assume you have kept it updated?
I stick with Nero 6.6, but I only use it for burning, which it does well enough. The rest of it's programs don't do as well.

This might be a good time to look into other programs. There are standalone video editors, encoders and authoring programs to the left in 'Tools'.

Only use Nero for burning. It does a good job burning, and it also does a good job of checking for DVD Compliancy. Other than that, use other tools to create DVDs.

I use TMPGenc tools (I think they are worth purchasing) to convert avi's or other files to DVD compliant files, and then I use TMPGenc Author 1.6 for authoring. Then I burn with Nero Express.
Some days it seems as if all I'm doing is rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic

Nero’s done it again! After days of editing it’s now refusing to open my NVC file (NeroVision 4). It goes to the front screen, I select the open existing project screen, I can see my file. I double click and then the program vanishes and I’m back at the Windows screen. File Manager shows that the NVC file is in place.

I’ve used the Nero contact form on their website; the response being I should download their update for Nero 7. It sounds like a fob off to me. Surely I’m not the only person to have this happen.

    Is it drivers?
Will I lose or damage my nvc file if I delete Nero and load the updated version?

Everything has remained in the original directory - nothing's been moved

Please help if you can. I’ve spent manyhours already on the editing and I’m beginning to lose the will to do anything!

    Many thanks in advance.
