  1. I keep getting a message when I try to just activate my TV tuner with my AIW 9800 Pro. It asks me to do a compatability test, then when it completes it informs me that the capture drivers aren't installed. I then go to the ATI website and install the latest WDM drivers (in this case 6.14) and then reboot as instructed and when I go to use the TV again, still no drivers installed! I have just recently upgraded to the latest Catalyst and am using MMC 9.03 which did not give me these problems before. The update to the most latest Catalyst only happened becasue of the current problem. I also did not have this issue before, perhaps about a month or more ago (have been too busy to use my machine much of late) and was able to capture just fine.

    Anyone got any suggestions?

Did you look at the ATI site and determine the drivers?

Here is the best place to go for advice.

You can try Driver Cleaner 3, it has always worked for me in the past. I had a similar problem after I updated the CAT driver to the latest version then tried to go back without using Driver Cleaner. It would not let me install the older version of WDM.

Uninstall everything ATI and reboot. When back to the desktop and windows reports finding new hardware just "cancel" out of both those boxes. Run Driver Cleaner 3 on everything it lists as ATI. Then install your older version of Cat, WDM, and MMC. It should then work fine.

I'm using Cat 4.12 and MMC 9.03 without issues. Check my stats for the rest.

    Good luck.

That is what Driver Cleaner 3 does. It cleans out all the leftover ATI junk the uninstall programs doesn't remove. Pretty neat little program. lol

  7. I have uninstaled and reinstalled everything three or four times now and it still doesn't wanna work. When I run the PC check it tells me that my capture drivers are installed but my DMA is not enabled (I know that it is, but it is a nForce issue not being recognized) Yet when I go back and click on the TV button, it goes thru the PC check each and every time. I am now using CCC 6.9 and MMC 9.06 but before I was using MMC 9.01 and I am not sure which CCC now, but it was a fairly recent one, perhaps even 6.9. It is really getting frustrating. I thought these AIW cards were supposed to be the creme de la creme when it came to capture cards, thats why i got rid of my Leadtek card.

Like I said above, I had issues when trying to use the later Cat, WDM, and MMC versions. That is why I am still using the older versions of Cat 4.12, MMC 9.03. WDM 6.14.10.6246, without issues. I didn't have much luck with ATIs updated drivers and software. It works now and I'm staying right here. No more updating for me.

Under Previous Drivers and Software ATI has a huge selection. They are located on the left side of the page under WindowsXP - AIW - Previous Versions.

You could always use the versions that came with your card on the ATI CD. Those should work ok. At least that would give you a starting point.

Also, I again suggest after you uninstall everything ATI by using Control Panel - ADD/Remove Programs, that you reboot, cancel Windows 'Add New Hardware' boxes, then run Driver Cleaner 3. This will give you a clean point to install ATI software. I have had install issues in the past when I did not run Driver Cleaner 3 before reinstalling ATI software and drivers. Expecially with version conflicts (like it seems you are having now).

    Good luck.

When reinstalling ATI I run CAT first. I choose Custom but then let it install all the items anyway. Let the system reboot when it asks. Back at the desktop I set my resolution to 1024x768, then refrest rate to the highest value. I also check in System Properties to make sure WDM installed correctly.

I then run the MMC install. I choose Custom and only select TV, VCD, and Stills. I uncheck everything else because I don't use them. During the install MMC might pop up a few "can't find etc" messages, but I just let it continue. Reboot then run MMC and setup the inputs, folders, channels, etc. I then close MMC and run Config to set it to my desired skin. I then go in and start testing.

    Hope this helps.

  9. OK. I will keep that in mind, because now I may end up re installing everything because now my Norton Systemworks is telling me that some files are corrupted and now Auto Protect is not coming up. I think I may just do a clean install because I have been using the same OS for 3 and a half years now and upgraded alot of my hardware during this period. I think maybe my floppy drive and the case are the only original things left. The mobo has gone through three changes, but I always stuck with the same brand/model and had no issues that way. Hopefully this will clear up my issues once and for all.

    Driver version 6.14

    and MMC 9.03
