  1. I'm surprised there's not much talk about this very cool app Vidi. It's a very simple but powerful dv capture app for the mac. What sets it apart from other capture apps is its ability to schedule a recording. This makes capturing a 2 hour program from your tv or dvr very simple, because you don't need to attend it. And from what I can tell, the captures look great, with perfect audio sync.

What I'd really like to do is automate the process of getting this file onto my iPod. I want to set up a recording before I go to bed. When that is finished capturing, I'd like to send the dv file to either ViddyUp! or ffmpegx (or QT pro if we have to) so that the file can be converted to an ipod ready format. The goal is to have the thing ready for my train ride to work next morning.

So how do we schedule something like this to happen? As it stands now, Vidi does not support applescript, (neither do ViddyUp or ffmpegx I believe). Is there a standalone scheduling app that might work in this situation?

I use Vidi for DV capture from VCR > ADS Pyro > Mac.
I think its a nice app. I've never used it for its scheduling features.

    I use it every day,
Settop svhs out to canopus 55.
Vidi sees the dv and records it.
You end up with huge files, but it all just works every time.
