    Hi.

I'm new here and I cannot decide on where to post this so here it is. Moderators, please move it if you know a suitable subforum.

I'm looking for some help with automating the publication process of my videos.
Currently when I'm done editing a video in Premiere I do the following:

    1. Render video with HD specs. (using the Adobe Media Encoder)
    2. Render video with FLV specs.
    3. Render video with Vimeo specs.
    4. Render video with PSP specs.
    5. Render video with iPhone specs.
    6. Render video with mobile spec.
    7. Have the AME automatically upload the results to the webserver once encoding is done.

However since I have a dedicated Windows streaming server sitting idle in a datacenter with about the same processor speed as I have at home, I would like to use it's power to do transcoding of the HD spec file to all the others. Also that will free up my upload speed a bit which is not very high.

So I'm looking for software that can be automatically triggered when the HD spec file I upload is completely upped, then it should transcode the file several times, then move them locally, and upload some of them to a Linux webserver.

The Adobe Media Encoder can do transcoding and uploading but it won't automatically start when a new file in a certain folder has arrived. This is my main concern as I can save hours daily by starting the HD spec encode/upload and go home knowing the next day the transcodes will be ready and waiting.

I hope you able to help. (And I hope I'm not posting something already solved, I couldn't find anything searching.)

I guess you can start the adobe media encoder encoding from the command line or similar? Then you can use something like filewatcher, http://www.datamystic.com/filewatcher.html , to start a command whenever a file is added. And ftp uploading can you make in a batch file.

Thanks Baldrick. File and Folder Watcher is exactly what I was looking for. Are there any other similar programs that you know? Such a simple function begs for an open source version. And free is always nice.

  4. You can use vnc software or remote login to start the transcodes, a queued list should work sequentially once started.

AME CS4 has watch folder functionality (file=>create watch folder). The limitation is that it will use the same profile (you can't set up 7 different encode settings for each file)

I found the watch folder feature before you posted but thanks none the less. Unfortunately it only adds the uploaded/found files to the queue, the queue does not automatically start encoding. Thus completely defeating the purpose.
