I'm considering buying the Samsung DVD-R120 and use the RGB output to connect it to an LCD computer monitor. Is this possible without using a video scaler?

Depends on the monitor - do you have a model number or specifications?

I don't. I have a 14" KOGI L4AX 14" but it's damaged so i'm considering buying a new 15" for m diy projector.

Well, there a definitely 15" LCD monitors out there that have analog inputs for NTSC signals etc - it depends on your budget, though.
