  1. Perhaps a newb quesiton, but I don't know much about plasma TV's. I'm thinking about buying a Panasonic 42" plasma (TH-42PX60U) and ran into a review of a guy complaining that his PAL DVD's won't work. It should work just fine if you have a DVD player with a PAL to NTSC converter, right? I have a bunch of PAL DVD's and a DVD player with a built in converter. This TV has a beautiful picture and I'd hate to have to pass on it because of this. Are plasmas picky about this or will the converter work?

I came across this at the Panasonic website.

    Multiple Signal Compatibility

Panasonic Viera Series plasmas support ATSC, QAM, and NTSC signals. Panasonic Professional Series plasmas support NTSC, PAL, PAL60, SECAM, and modified NTSC signals.

The model I'm considering buying is part of their Viera Series. Am I screwed?

Hi, We have a very good range of Panasonic plasma sets in PAL Land down under and they work
perfectly. Unless your product is specifically dedicated for your location it should work. If you connected your DVD player via component leads or even better HDMI there should be no problems.
Best check with your local retailer first just to be sure.

If your player converts the pal dvd into an ntsc signal (which by your description ... it does) then it should work
