I have been doing minor video capture and editing with Pinnacle studio 7 and now studio 9 Both have been unstable and a real killjoy to use. I am looking to try something new. I am really looking at sony vegas movie studio 6.0 + DVD video editing software. My question is I capture VHS thru my ADVC-100 via Firewire or my Panasonic palmcorder mini dvd recorder. Will Vegas work for this? I am doing nothing fancy just putting my home movies from my dvd camcorder to DVD Disc very minor editing and my with takes here shows recorded to vhs and edits them and saves them to vcd. Thanks very much for any info. I am a real fan of this site I can remember when it was just vcdhelp.com.

Yes, it will. You may find you have to turn device control off in the settings, but otherwise it should be fine.

  6. How does this route(I have a pyro a/v link for vhs>dv "conversion"), compare against Hauppauge 350 mpeg capture card, and is my PC up to the job or would an upgrade to one of the modern dual options help much?
I have always avoided transferring DV as the processing time to mpeg is so long, how does Vegas compare to TMPG enc, or canopus.

    Thanks very much

Your av/link is a very good unit. If you goal is to capture to mpeg, your av/link can do that with Ulead Studio software, or Ulead DVD Workshop.
