    Hello,

I have a mini dv camcorder (MV750i) and a vhs tape recorder (Sony SLV-F900 UX). I am trying to record from my vhs recorder onto my mini dv cam.

I have been following the instructions in the instruction manual (page 81) but can't get the camcorder to receive an image on the camcorder screen.

I am connecting the camcorder to the vhs player using the STV-250N stereo video cable provided via a scart adapter similiar to the PC-A10 Scart adapter but which has a switch to allow input and output. (i believe the PC-A10 Scart Adapter is output only)

Under the vcr setup on the camcorder menu, i have selected av*dv out = on and then pressed rec pause button. if i then press play the top right hand of the screen states REC which it good.

However, the camcorder screen is blue and i think that it should be showing the images that are playing on the vhs player.

Have you any suggestions please as I have tried everything that I can think of and I need to transfer some vhs video to mini dv?

    Regards
    Neil

That doesn't sound right. I played with my MV700(before I realized it does NOT record via anything other than the lens) and I believe you need to be in the recorder menu....not the player(vcr) menu.

I believe you are mistaken....The MV750i definitly has the functionality to record from a vcr via stv-250n stereo video cable.

The instructions also state that you need to set the camcorder to play (vcr) mode and load a blank cassette.

    Any other suggestions?

    Regards

  4. If you are recording on that blank tape, then you have to press the "RECORD" button.

As stated in my original post, it does say REC (record) on the screen indicating that the record button has been pressed.

It just does not seem to be receiving images from the vcr??????

I've read that most digital camcorders sold in Europe that have analog video input capability have had that feature disabled by the manufacturer. I seem to recall that the reason given had something to do with a certain tax that would make the camcorder much more expensive if it has input recording capabilities (not counting the lens of course).

Digital camcorder models with analog inputs don't have this issue in the USA.

I should point out that not all digital camcorders have analog video recording as a feature. Some don't have it at all.

I never said is didn't have that functionality....but I do have the same
instruction booklet that you have and I think you may be mis-reading it a bit.My 700 does
not record via line-in but yours does....or is supposed to have that function.

I've also heard the same thing that Fucil said....that European camcorders
have the pass-thru/record function(via line in) disabled.
