  1. this may be odd and i'm not even sure if it goes here. one day i went to watch a video on my computer (mpg) thats about 10 minutes. now, for some reason, its only 43 seconds. if you watch it start to finish it'll stop at 43, but if you click on the scroll bar it will go to where it usually would be, but still stops after 43 seconds. i dont think i downloaded anything new or anything like that. this also happens with another video. i also didnt edit it or anything like that. how come its doing that? how do i fix it? btw, i had the 2 videos backed up on a data cd, but even on the data cd they are messed up all of a sudden. whats wrong? thanks.

  2. one more thing, when it goes past the time, the video freezes, the sound still plays, and the scroll bar stays at the end if that helps. thanks.

  3. They might not be standard mpeg1/2 files.
Find out the resolutions of these files and post them.

I have the EXACT same problem. I think it has to do with Windows Media Player or codecs. Have yet to deal with it though.

So same question, anybody know how to fix this???

These videos worked fine a week ago. Something happened recently that makes them play shorter.

Anyway here is the info. It seems to be standard VCD.

    Video size: 352x240 (1150kbps)
    Audio: 44100hz, 16bps, 1ch (64kbps)
    Length: 0:11:19
    Bitrate: 1232kbps

Here is "Currently used filters" from Winamp:

    Ligos MPEG Audio Decoder
    Ligos MPEG Splitter
    Ligos MPEG Video Decoder

I think this may have something to do with it since my problem might have started when I upgraded Winamp a couple of days ago.

  7. @cantckaja,

There's a trick I used seems to work for me on a couple of occasions,
Open up TMPGEncPlus's ' mpeg tools ', click on the tab > Merge and Cut,
Now click ' Add ' and navigate to the mpeg file, set the destination output to a new folder. Do NOTHING else then click ' Run ".

After its done, try playing the new file and see if everything is alright.

( That is if TMPGEnc can recognize the file.)
