I have a dvd I want to backup. I've tried dvdfab pro and clone dvd. It has lots of scratches etc on it. They failed to rip on that program.

Then I tried ripit4me. It ripped the dvd. However I kept getting:

    pack header not found

On the fly ifo/bup file patching failed

    invalid ifo/bup file

    Reason invalid ifo/bup file

    invalid data in file video_ts.vob

It appears the dvd file works, however I can't open it in dvd shrink

It says invalid dvd navigation structure in dvd shrink.

    What does all this mean?

Also what dvd ripping programs work best for scratched problem dvds?

    Thanks

If you cleaned the disk and used the latest versions of all the ripping programs you listed and you tried to rip in different drives then maybe the disk is just bad.

Also try different I/O settings. I had a dvd I couldn't rip with SPTI, but I had no problems with ripping with ASPI. It only took more time.

  5. ISOBuster,I have found to be very good for ripping scratched discs.I run AnyDVD in the background.
DVDDecrypter can be set to ignore read errors or perform read retries.

Thanks for all the great suggestions. I tired isobuster and it did not work. I went to the dvd fab website and read that they do an excellent job in backing up dvds that are heavily scratched. I did the trial of dvd fab platnium and It ripped it perfectly!!! So I bought dvd fab platnium. Thanks

Sounds as you never ran FixVTS in ripit4me.

The program was a little confusing. I will try it again if I run in to the same problem.

    Thanks

Ripper can help, but really can't overcome any serious scartches.

if all you wanted was to rip the DVD you need not have PURCHASED the Platinum version...you only needed to download their GREAT DVDFab Decryptor...for FREE. that's the ripping part of the Platinum package anyway. Oh, well...hindsight.
