For those who are having trouble when frameserving from virtualdub and trying to make a variable bitrate movie in CCE 2.50.
3 and 4 pass VBR will not work, CCE will give a checksum error. However, 2 and 5 pass VBR work like a charm!
I didn't test 6 pass and higher because it takes forever.
Found this information on the following Italian page:
http://members.xoom.it/SPAZZ/template/Default.htm
But they forgot to mention that 2 and 5 passes actually work when frameserving from virtualdub...
Hope this will help some newbies from getting very frustrated like I did![]()

..works fine here too.
btw, the checksum errors seem to occure with Athlons only.
Watch out for the CRC patch.

Hmm, then I'm doing something very wrong here.
It keeps on telling me: "cce encoding failed: Error: Video check-sum is different from that of previous pass. Source data or time code may be different. Please check video tape or the information file"
Then it gives the current and previous check sum.
Only the last pass works, ie if I use 3 pass i get 2 errors.
Even if I delete the ecl,vaf and mpv files (audio is encoded in another app) I get the error...
Very strange.
Could I get some input here?
Thx and regards.

Now I'm totally lost...
Whatever I do, it the errors keep on popping up
All files, ecl vaf mpv etc, deleted before starting.
CCE analyzes the (frameserved)movie and creates the vaf-file, 3 (or any) pass VBR is used. So far so good...
But when it starts transcoding the movie I get the Video check-sum errors.
Anyone???
Regards.

Same problem here..
Seems like 5 pass vbr works for me, but I have problems with any other option. So for me is useless..
I have to say that this problem is only with athlon proccessors. Testing with an old pentium 3 at 500mhz shows me no probs. With my new xp1600 I get that f###g message all the time

Are you guys using any filters when frameserving? I have had this problem only when I am using filters like samrt smoother, etc.
-
Yep, I am using a lot of filters.
But there seems to be a patch out there...ask the moderator.
Dunno if I can post the link...
Error is gone now. And no I'm not using an Athlon. Just an O'clocked CelII 566 at 952Mhz.
Does the job rather well
Job done, going to sleep now...
