To use this subtitle format on a divx standalone do you just burn the .avi file together with the .idx & .sub files? Thanks in advance

Depends on the player. Some don't support VOBSubs at all. To be certain that subs work on all DivX standalones you would need to use XSubs.

Thats easy of course, the problem is, all the subtitles appear in the center of the screen almost
