My timeline has groups of events on the video and audio track that I work on. Each is independent of the next group. In fact, I have 8 that are very similar. It would be good if one could title an event, so that if one clicks on it, it shows its name, and therfore identifies the head of the group (on the left of the group). Probably I could color code some very short event, and place it at the head of the event group (on the left), not is the idea that one could look at the "lead" by showing it in the video preview window. Any ideas on this? Markers just don't do it for me.

I'm not exactly sure what you are asking, but have you looked at nested projects ?

I've heard of nested projects, and am somewhat familiar with the concept. At this point, it would be too risky me to try on this project. Here's an example, of what I'm thinking of. Suppose the letters here represent events on a time line, both the a & v tracks, there are two groups:

    M R J K L ____C V O X P A

(underline is unoccupied time between the two)When I click on M in some way, or maybe there's an external label on the event, it says, "Press conference" . If I click on C, it shows, "News Broadcast". In each case, the events following these leads are related to the first (lead). Maybe that's what tags are about? Going further with this idea, suppose each of the events in a group had a lablel. Clicking on each event in group 1 might yield:

    "Press Conference"
    "Q & A"
    "Anchor Analysis"
    "Photo Ops"
    "Commercial"
