Got the S65GD and wanted to create a couple of Video CDs. I used Nero 5.5.6.4 and burned 9 VCD 2.0 compliant mpegs on to my CD. They vary in size and length but were all the same resolution, bitrate, etc.

The original clips were originally captured with the ATI All-In-Wonder 32MB DDR and manipulated with Ulead VideoStudio 5.0 (to add a variety of effects).

The problem I found (once I burned them) was that in a few of the clips, the audio became distorted and the video choppy. It was unbearable.

So, I took one of the clips and ran in through tmpgenc. While I'd never used the tool and have not read about all the possible options, I did enough detective work to convert the audio bitrate to 192 (compared to 224 in the original).

With only that change, the clip now works beautifully on the player. I suppose I can try a few other experiments but I was wondering if anyone else had experienced a problem like this. I would normally think that the processing power in the DVD power couldn't handle the VCD but I have plenty of other clips at the same resolution/bitrate that play fine.

When I modified the clip, Nero now reminds me that my clip is not compliant with Video CD 2.0 standards (I didn't get that warning before). I read the reviews of the XV-S65GD and no one seems to have had such a problem. I guess I don't know if I should continue making non-compliant VCDs or if there are a few other settings I can try and tweak.
