I only started using Vegas about 4 days ago and ive gotten used to a lot of the basic tools. My main concern though is with applying filters to a specified Region or 2 markers. Everytime i add a filter to my video it covers the whole thing. How do i reduce the filter to say 1/2 seconds of a clip?
My other question was adjusting the tempo of video clips. I've used the search/help guide built into the software (which has been quite helpful actually), but no luck.

To apply a filter to just a single clip on a timeline, right-click on the clip and choose Video Event FX. To alter the appearance of an effect over time, or constrain it to a period within the clip, use the key frames across the bottom of the FX dialogue.
An alternate method is to find the start of the section you want the FX to effect, and hit the S key to split the clip. Repeat this at the end of the section, and you have a seperate clip to apply the effect to.
You can control the speed of a clip by adding a velocity envelope. Right-click on the clip and select Insert/Remove Envelope -> Velocity Envelope. You can either move the whole line up and down to affect speed globally for that track, or add points to ramp speed up and down over time. You can even bring it to a dead stop, or reverse it.Read my blog here.

I thought instead of creating a new thread i would ask this question here. Does anyone know why i cant export my videos in any codec (besides the uncompressed one)? I get an error saying "vegas does not support this codec. The same thing happens with Premiere (but at the end of the exporting).
All my videos work fine and i removed any codec packs that i had installed. I just have Divx/Xvid/Windows media 9 (comes with the player i think) codecs installed. I can get away with exporting uncompressed formats for now and using Virtual Dub to convert to XviD but once i start using movies larger than 5 minutes, the exporting time is going to be a lot longer -
is it a registered copy ?
