    Hi to alll.

I have an .SRT Greek subtitle file in 8859-7 codepage. I insert the video file in FFMPEGX as AVI(DIVX). I insert the SRT at filters, put the font to STHeiti and the codepage to 8859-7. I press "preview" and i see the video in Greek subs. All ok up to here..

Then i press "encode" without changing anything else. I let it encode up to 5% as a test and press stop.

Then when i play the new encoded AVI all the Greek Subs are straight lines !
Only one or two words in English are normal.

The same thing happens if i save the SRT with U8 or CP1253 ! I see Greek Subs in "preview" but NOT when i "encode".

What is wrong here ? Can anyone help ?

    Thank you.

I wonder if you need to choose a font that has the characters you wish to display. Perhaps the default font (Arial, IIRC) doesn't have those characters?

    Just a wild guess.

I tried also with Arial / Georgia / TrabuchetMS. The same thing..

** A tip to someone that MAY work** (With me it dind't, but know someone that worked)

With this fonts (Arial / Georgia / Trab) i made a change that someone else sugested, i took the 3 fonts from a Windows XP GR and put them IN the folder .Spumux (or something like that) and managed to make them preview in Greek. But after encoding the AVI those fonts came out also straight lines.

  4. You may want to try the older binaries. The current ones have some problems in handling foreign character sets and font styles.

    Yap ! That did it.

Thank you my friend. The new mencoder must have a bug or something. The old gave me Greek ok.

The only bad thing is that it is toooooo slow in compare with the new one.
Is there any way to speed things up ?
