I made a football highlight film in highschool and it's currently on a miniDV tape. I want to finish the project by working on it with my MacBook but the problem is that I don't have a camcorder to use so iMovieHD can import it on my mac. What is the best way to import it so I can work on it?

Well, you'll need a miniDV player of some sort to get the data onto you MacBook.
Go off and rule the universe from beyond the grave. Or check into a psycho ward, whichever comes first, eh? -
Just pickup (buy or borrow) a mini-DV camcorder. Canon makes one (ZR-###) that I've seen for about $200. Only downside to Canon's ZR series is that they don't record well without substantial light; indoors without artificial lighting, the results are "grainy", so to speak.
However, transferring footage they will do without any issues.
