i was just curious for those out there with ati all in wonder type cards, is it better to just use the mmc to capture or use another program like virtualdub. ive always used virtualdub but im interested in trying another capture method because its been fussy lately (probably because im running xp for all i know) now i know there are a lot of options with virtualdub and thats why ive always used it but my major problem recently has been that ive been getting the fields messed up or something and in the captures ive made in the past few days they look like mpegs that ive messed up by selecting the wrong source type (interlace/progressive using tmpegenc) so any tips on my interlacing problems and anything related to quailty or sucess of good captures using ati software would be appreciated.

by the way ive been capturing from vhs and thats when this interlacing problem started i captured off of cable tv last monday and there was no field problems but now there is, settings of programs are the death of me...

  3. Hi there. I had an ati all in wonder pro 128 32MB AGP. It produced the worst possible quality, both MPEG1 and MPEG2 and it says on he box "DVD quality". It wasn't even close to the standards of MPEG1!

just use ATi's own software and 320*240 is a good res to capture as the quality is the same but uses less file size. If you want to use other codecs to capture (eg. loseless) then use VirtualDub.

    hope it helps

Try the Ulead DVD Movie Factory to capture.
Capture 480x480 Avi files and encode it with TMPEnc. Select Deinterlace "even field".
You will be able to burn good quality SVCDs.
