Start with the glossary to learn some terms, then start reading the guides.

If you just want a quick and easy solution, look at DivxtoDVD or ConvertXtoDVD.

However if you really want to learn how to create DVDs, and not just press a button or two, you will have to read, play, experiment and learn.

Everything you need to know is in the menus to your left <-

pere0608, in the future please use a more descriptive subject title in your posts to allow others to search for similar topics. I will change yours this time. From our rules:
Try to choose a subject that describes your topic.
Please do not use topic subjects like Help me!!! or Problems.
    Thanks, Moderator redwudz

And the basic answer is: Use a lower bitrate and you can fit up to about 8 hours on a DVD at very reduced quality. And like guns1inger said: Read.

    And welcome to our forums.

This website and the forums are a wonderful resource, and whilst it is easy for those of us who know exactly how to find something to say "read the guides / FAQs etc etc etc", I can assure you that the answers to all your questions and more are probably here already; you just need to find them.

Up on the top left under "What is" there is a menu item for DVD - this would probably be a good start. IMHO you really need to build up your knowledgebase and understand both how and why you need to do the steps required. One of the better ways to learn is to try following a guide - http://members.dodo.net.au/~jimmalenko/AVI2DVD.htm is one I wrote - and then come back to the forums with specific questions about a certain part of the process if you get stuck.
    If in doubt, Google it.
