Wife is upstairs watching "The Bachelor" - which is why I'm downstairs at VHOT...

I accidentally was present for the first 5 minutes (okay, I was asleep for the first 4.5 minutes - it even drove me nuts subconsciously). This show has to be the bottom dweller of reality TV.

Anyone agree or what's your worst?

<if the first elimination challenge was "Best Blowjob" I'd move it out of bottom spot>

Right. The first ad jumped the shark for the show before the first episode ever aired. That is my general opinion of all so called "reality" shows.

All "reality" shows suck. First of all they aren't truly real life situations. Second they're all trash. Third, and most important, they take jobs away from legitimate writers and actors. I say we should boycott all of them and demand something decent.

Throw these so-called Lifestyle shows in as well (we can make your room over in 12 hours for $5,000 - although it would take anyone else 4 weeks and cost $50,000 - and by the way, I hope you like purple) and you have my vote.

These are the only two I watch - although Survivor is hitting an all time low this time around.

    Never cared for The Mole...

I actually watched the first episode of this season's bachelor. My wife and her friend had it on in the background and I was stuck in that room. Its terrible but I can tell that its the kind of entertainment that strongly appeals to women and in that regard, its a good show for them. Its like what that UFC reality show or maybe Fear Factor are for guys.

If I had to choose an all around, just plain stupid, reality show it would be Flavor of Love followed by that Superhero one with Stan Lee. Now those are baaaaaaad.

    Fear Factor:

    Falling while tethered... No problem...
    Bugs... No problem...
    Driving erratically... No problem...
    Water challenges... No Problem...
Sucking on pig rectums... Makes me wanna puke...

I have no interest in watching this show.

I loathe all "reality" television with a few minor exceptions:

The Amazing Race: I've caught a few episodes, nowhere near a regular viewer, and they were a decent waste of time. I mostly like seeing the locations they visit more than the challenges and interaction though. However from the few glimpses of other "reality" shows the contestants actually seemed pretty real to me. I'm sure we've all known pairs like some of them in real life.

Hell's Kitchen: I actually hate the drama portion of it, I just know the culinary arts rather well so there are some inside tidbits here and there that make it pretty amusing to watch.

Fear: This was probably the only true reality show I've seen, however it started to feel staged in some episodes. The good episodes were ones that you could feel how horrendously scared out of their minds some of those kids were, and there were a few instances that even creeped me out. And it's an infamous fact that I was a callback to be on that show before it was cancelled, they just really wanted an atheist on an episode and I was eager to see if I could be scared out of my mind

Anyone ever see Elimidate? My sister was on an episode. She actually has the distinction of being the only person to ever elimidate themself. The guy literally acted like Austin Powers and she called him a loser and walked off. It sounds bitchy but if you saw the episode he clearly deserved it.

Kinda unrelated but a friend of mine also won the showcase showdown on The Price is Right.

I suppose Game Shows are similar - aren't they (game shows and reality shows) controlled by the same body??? I thought Reality shows were considered to be game shows...

As for game shows, there are good ones and bad ones - no matter if you believe Price is Right to be good or bad it is still a classic. And Bob Barker - loved his roll in Happy Gilmore...

    @Supreme2k: Great clip.

I hate them all. No exceptions here.

I'd rather have re-runs of older shows, or some other new shows.
Where the hell did all the sitcoms go?

The only recent good sitcom was Lucky Louie on HBO but its starting to look like there won't be a 2nd season.

I love reality shows, except The Bachelor. I don't see the point in a reality dating show where all of the contestants obviously have no problem getting dates.

A whole week, and all I get are 3 sitcoms? WTF? What about the other 165+ hours per week, per channel? Quite a few of them are drama/sitcoms now too, not just sitcoms.

    Excluding animation.

Also, I really like CSI, CSI-Miami and NCIS, but seriously .... how the hell many cop/detective/courtroom dramas do we need?

Reality tv, on the other hand .... all over the place. Even MTV has been entirely overrun by this crap. Even Bob Vila's "This Old House" has been ripped off and turned into "reality" by the learning/home/arts channels. A&E has Dog the Bounty Hunter? How is that A&E? I like Dog and all, but he is NOT an A&E topic. Maybe if you removed the "A" and make the "E" into "E!"

I also enjoy "My Name is Earl" as well as NCIS... I don't so much dislike the CSI's (and others) it's just I agree with your comment of how many do we need - I choose one and my preference is for NCIS.

My wife will watch any home fix-it show. I used to enjoy one or two but they're all now just regurgitating the same crap - I don't make a point of watching any anymore.

I enjoy "The Simpson's" but won't go out of my way - same for "South Park." Actually, with "South Park" I like to have it on in the background when I'm at the computer - every now and then they do something hilarious.
