    hello

I ahve ffmpeg and have (I think) installed al the extra binaries.
I have a copy of a documentary I made as 3 VOB files, and want to convert them to quicktimes at the highest possible quality for re-editing for a showreel. Is this something I can do in ffmpeg?
What settings should I be looking out for?

    cheers

highest quality would be uncompressed rgb or blackmagic codec in QT ..

but since you hav already compressed them as mpeg2 (VOB) and lost a great amount of quality -- it is a pointless exercise really as the quality will not return ,,,

ok, but how do I get a quicktime file that looks as good as the vob file? Are there any settings I should look out for?

    cheers

  4. encode (with Discreet Cleaner, Procoder, etc.) at a high bitrate ( ie. greater than 4800kb, 2-pass or more) as a QT file.
