Can anyone tell me the speed of a Viking 1GB cf card.

When i put the card into my reader it said it was a Toshiba compact flash card so i take it this is who it's made by and rebaged for viking.
i purchased this card of 7dayshop for £9.99 not that expensive so i thought i would give it a try, but it did not say how fast the card was

i tried it in my Fuji camera and it works fine and also in my PDA witch also doubles up as a satnav

But i am just interested to know the speed and how reliable it is, if its made by toshiba then thats not a bad price for a 1GB CF card

Here's a link to the Viking site. The memory chip itself might be Toshiba: http://www.vikingcomponents.com/configurator/flashDetail.asp?type=COMPACT

If you got it for £9.99, you got a bargain. Viking is a good company.

SanDisc as a comparison has 4 levels of Compact Flash performance. You need to get the spec sheet for your model number. Usually Level 2 and up will be on the label because they are more expensive "pro" or "pro photo" or "video" models.

    Level1 Greater than or equal to 1 MB/s (1-5MB/s)
    Level2 up to 10 MB/sec read, 9MB/s write
    Level3 up to 20 MB/sec (exceeds USB2 sustained)
    Level4 up to 40 MB/sec (exceeds USB2 sustained)

An 8MB level 4 Sandisk CF card lists at $559.99

That Viking is a level 1 CF card. Note that transfer speeds are for burst, not "sequential" or "sustained"

    Data Transfer Rate
    Read: 3.7 - 8 MB/s Burst
    Write: 1.5 - 5 MB/s Burst
