  1. I've been backing up my dvd's for a while using ffmpegx 0.0.9x and everything has been going ok. I usually use the same settings (not through a preset) but manually doing them. The movie in question is "The Good Shepherd". For the record I haven't had any problems with any other movies purchased recently. When I backup my DVD to VOB (not using ffmpegx) files the audio is fine and will play with no problems. When using ffmpegx for this movie with either a passthrough codec or AC3 codec with the same settings as the source files I get to about 12 minutes into the movie or so then the audio is just static. Then will resume normally at other parts and then become static at other parts of the movie. Playing back the movie at the same location based on the time stamp via the VOB files and the audio is fine.

Any ideas as to what the problem could be since there isn't much settings for audio?

    settings are:

    SOURCE: VIDEO_TS
    TARGET: AVI DIVX

    SOURCE VIDEO: MPEG2, 720x480, 9800 kbps, 29.97 fps
    TARGET VIDEO: MENCODER, MPEG4, 720x304, 1473 kbps, 29.97 fps

    SOURCE AUDIO: AC3, 48000 Hz, 448 kbps
TARGET AUDIO: PASSTHROUGH (or AC3), 48000 Hz, 448 kbps (16:9)

    AUTO CROP: 62 / 64 / 0 / 0

    OPTIONS:

    HIGH QUALITY
    TRELLIS QUANTIZATION
    QUARTER PIXEL ME (QPEL)

    SCALING: LANCZOS
    ME FUNCTION: SATD
    KEYFRAME INTERVAL: 240

  2. I also tried encoding in XVID as well and the same problem happens. The audio is either static or chipmunk.

  3. I just tried to encode with 5:1 channel selected instead of stereo and the same thing happens.

Would you be willing to accept mp3 stereo audio as on the preset for divx encoding? Perhaps your end result would be better.

  5. sorry, didn't state that I got this to work when using the pass through codec and 5.1 as the channel.

I believe I've tried mp3 stereo as well
