I have a video file that is 624 X 352 pixels in size. I want to use AVSEdit and AviSynth to resize the image by adding in black bars so it will playback on a 4:9 screen without looking stretched or out of shape (eg: the people look really tall and thin). I will also be using TMPGEnc to convert the ".avs" file into a dvd compliant file for use in dvdlab.

Can someone please give me step by step instructions on how to do this please.

    Thanks in advance.

What sort of screen has a 4:9 ratio ?

Assuming you mean either 4:3 or 16:9, FitCD is your best bet. It will create a basic avisynth script with the resizing code in it. You can then load this into avsedit to alter, add filters etc.

You should be able to convert it to either 4:3 (with big black bars) or 16:9 (with small black bars) and it will work on a 4:3 TV. If you choose 16:9, remember to encode as 16:9.

If 16:9 material does look stretched on your 4:3 TV then you do not have your DVD player set up correctly.
