    Hi,
This is my first post although I visit here often.
I'm having a problem with my R220 printer and the refillable ink carts.
When I purchased my printer I also purchased inks and refillable cartridges with ARC chips from Print On A Dime. I first used the original inks which recently ran out. BTW, Love printing on dvd's! It is so easy with this printer!
I installed the refillable cartridges and some are not recognized. In fact the only one I have not had a problem with is the black.
I have tried everything P.O.A.D. suggested with no luck.
They sent me new chips and still no luck.
Has anyone had this problem or have any suggestions?
If I don't find a solution then I've had enough with refillables (even though I have six full bottles of ink) and want to buy Epson compatible ink-filled carts. Any suggestions which are best?
Thanks for your any help in advance.

  3. When the reset chips on my refillables crapped out, I took the original chips off the epson cartridges and replaced them. I now have to use a chip resetter, but I havent had any problems. If your refillable are like mine, it should be simple to do; just use a small screwdriver and be careful.

  4. I have an R200 with Print On a Dime refillable carts. When I first got them, the yellow cart was not recognized. I followed the instructions on their website to fix the problem. It worked and they have been working great. Try the instructions again. In no way am I going back to paying Epson big money for six small carts with little ink.

I also tried this not knowing that I needed a chip resetter, it didn't work.
I took all the chips and put them into a container. Does it matter if I install them again without knowing which was black, etc, now that they are all mixed up.
I'm not familiar with chip setters. Do you recommend any particular kind for the Epson R220?
Thanks so much for your help.

  6. I use the refillible cartridges from Colorbat. I have refilled them often and without any problems.

I have two chip resetters (one from Universal Colorfast and the other from Fry's Electronics). They cost $10.

    1. Never allow the ink to run out (always refill when the level starts to get low).
    2. Never overfill the cartridge
    3. Reset the chip (I used generic and have replaced them with epson chips).
    4. Place the refilled cartridge back into the printer.

P.S. Colorbat cartridges have two air purge holes. Once you initially fill ink into the hole with the sponge, you cap it off with the supplied plug. NEVER plug the secondary breather hole.

    I hope this helps.

  7. The chip resetter comes with a couple of adapters. Use the correct one for the R220,R340, etc....

When you press the chip against the chip resetter, it should blink on and off (1 - 6 seconds) and then stay on. Once the light stays completely on, the chip has been reset.

Since I only use it for one set of cartridges, I use a rubber band to keep the adapter stationary.

Just to update. POAD sent me their new spongeless cartridges and my printer recognized them instantly.
But...sadly I can't get a good printout. The colors are off. They look overblown...too much contrast or something and very blueish, green. On the print test it shows the yellow looking lime-green.
I reinstalled the software and new driver but it didn't help.
Also my prints are soaking wet and take days to dry whereas before they came out dry and the colors were perfect.
I've always used Taiyo Yuden printables and never had this problem.
    POAD doesn't have any solution.
I feel terrible as my printer is only a few months old and it was so nice. I never had a problem with it.
Now the only thing I can use it for is to print text so I guess I'll have to buy a new printer.
Does anyone have any suggestions on a replacement?
Thanks to everyone for their help.
