    Welcome E1

    I am a new member.
I searched the forum but I didn't found an answer.
I decided to threw in my own post.

    T3
    ---

I was trying to convert the movie to avi and I came up with a weird problem. I used claddvd to extract movie as 1 big 3.99gb avi file, but when I played back I notice that it ended about 30 minutes before real end of the movie. I guess this is because the file could not be bigger than 3.99GB. I didn't know what to do about it so I ripped once again as dvd file and came up with several vob files. I don't know what is the reason for that, but only last file have audio. All other files says audio not available. Is anyone familiar with claddvd and can explain whats up with that?

    MATRIX
    ---------

There are a lots of scenes in Matrix Trilogy in slow motion. When I ripped with claddvd several scenes were playing twice. In the beginning of the movie Trinity jumps and kick this cop and starting here it looks like this: she jumps, kick this cop and than jumps again and kick this cop again. It goes like this untill the scene when the agents starting to chase her. From here everything goes fine untill the next scene in slow motion. And than the same thing all over. Why is that? I also tried clonedvd and the same frames didn't play twice, but there was no slow motion effect and there was something wrong with audio instead. Does anyone had similar problems and came up with a solution?

My first guess with your t3 issue was that you had a fat32 drive that wouldn't allow for single files larger than 4gigs. However you are running XP according to your computer details so chances are you have NTFS and can have any file size.

I haven't used that program you mention but I can offer a guess. Does it have a target size to fit a file on a single layer dvdr? It may be forcing you to a 4gig file so you can burn it to a single layer dvdr. That's only a supposition but a good place to check.

As for the matrix issue I couldn't begin to guess the issue. I can only suggest that you start over with a clean rip from the disc and do it again.

Unfortunately, XP is no guarantee of FAT32. I see a lot of XP boxes, some from major suppliers, that are formatted to FAT32 for no good reason other than fear of change. This is getting better, but still is a problem. I suspect that this is the T3 problem.

As for the Matrix, many of the scenes you talk about are part of the Follow the White Rabbit mode, so your ripper may be having problems with the multi-angle segments. I would suggest using a better ripper to rip just the angle you need, then processing. DVD Decrypter can do this.

    Claddvd have 2 options:
1- PGC Mode [AVI] - and this one converts a movie to one large 3.99gb VOB file. It doesn't have any options for target size. It shows option:
Force Film on NTFS Source to 23.976 (with check box enabled)
and there is an option to choose audio format or no audio [D2V File Only]
With T3 movie converts 5 out of 6 VOB files with "audio not available" NO MATTER WHICH AUDIO OPTION I CHOOSE!
2- DVD Mode [DVDR] - this one converts a movie to a hard drive as several VOB files of maximum size 0.99gb and than it can be rceorded to a dvd or converted to other formats.
Like in the first option I get no audio in first 5 VOB files, but the last one plays just fine.
I don't know if there is anything wrong with T3. I tried rip with Clonedvd and there was no problems at all. It also played just fine on my dvd player.

Have you confirmed if you are running FAT32 or NTFS on your HDD ?

Have you tried using something like RipIt4Me to rip the movie to your HDD ?

    I am running FAT32.
I did rip a different movie and it was fine. There could be something wrong with T3. I have tried on 3 different computers (2 laptops and a dsktop) on XP and ME and results were the same.
It is something strange about it, because as soon as I bought this movie I did first rip with claddvd and I did recorded to dvd-rdl and it was just fine. Than I started to experiment with different programs and options and perhaps something got damage on the originall disk.

FAT32 has a maximum file size of 4gb. No single file can be larger. If T3 needs more space then you have a problem.

You cannot damage the original disc short of physically scratching it. There is no way you can write back to it and alter it.

If you rip it leaving the file system intact, then FAT32 is not a problem because no single VOB will be larger than 1000MB.

It could also simply be because this software is now getting old (it hasn't been updated in over a year and has now been supeceded by something called rip.net) it may not handle the latest structure protection.
