Can BTV record when not logged on?

Ok, noob to htpc here; I’m testing the BTV as a possible PVR software purchase. The scheduled recordings don’t record unless I’m logged on. How do you make this thing run as a service? I had a show set to start at 8pm but it did not start until I logged on at 8:30pm. I then logged off and noticed it was shutting down the BTV processes. I logged back in to confirm that indeed the recording stopped when I logged off; the recording only ran during the times I‘m logged on. If this is normal for BTV and not because of the trial, that make it a no go for me. What other PVR software records that does not require one to be logged on.
