I'm trying to backup a dvd which is 7.09GB
I have used DVD Shrink, Clone DVD and Nere Recode to make it 4.4GB in size to enable me to burn it.
The dvd burns fine, but when I play the dvd in a dvd player it only plays up to Chapter 2 (Out of 8 Chapters) before it starts skipping, stopping and going pixelated.
I have tried it in 3 different dvd players using the different programs and I still have the same problem.
I also tried spliting the dvd but this didn't work as the main menu was on the first dvd when I need it on the second also.
Can anybody help me here?
Thanks

What brand of media are you using and what is the media code? What model DVD burner are you using?

Datawrite Yellow

Media Code - [DVD-R:TTG01]
DVD Burner - LITE-ON DVDRW SOHW-1633S - [FW BPSA ] - [ATAPI]
Thanks -
What speed are the discs rated and at what speed are you burning?
Is your firmware up to date?

I looked in the media section for Datawrite Yellow with the same media code. The only thing I see with the same code is Datawrite printable. 3 out of 4 people get bad results with it. Are you burning your discs at 4x?

I replace with NEC 3550 from Newegg it woked since then. So Lite-on drive only last a few months. Now I use it as a reader.

Shrink automaticaly reduces a commercial DVD to 3.35g. In computer terms a blank DVD-R or +R media is not 4.7g it is in fact 3.7g ..ie.. unless you are using double layer media. I suggest you let Shrink automaticaly reduce the image to 3.35g max.

AN IMPORTANT NOTE ON UNITS – GB versus Billion Bytes
A single layer recordable DVD typically holds 4.7 billion bytes (G bytes), not 4.7 gigabytes (GB). It only holds 4.38 gigabytes (GB). A double-sided, dual-layer DVD holds 17 billion bytes, which is only 15.90 GB.
The confusion arises because the SI prefixes kilo, mega and giga normally represent multiples of 1000. However, when used in the computer world to measure bytes these same prefixes generally represent multiples of 1024 (in the binary world, 2^10 =1024). This means that a kilobyte = 1024 bytes, a megabyte = 1,048,576 bytes, and a gigabyte = 1,073,741,824 bytes. So 4,700,000,000 bytes = 4.38 gigabytes.member since 1843 -
I goofed, Shrink reduces a commercial DVD to 4.35g .... 3.35g was a typo, thanks to those who acknowled my error.

Try slowing the burning down to 4x or even 2x.
This fixes the problem for some dvd players.
My dvd players are great at playing 8x or even 16x, but some friends of mine, they have to be 4x or they skips and freeze.
Ciao
