I have the same model hooked up to my VCD and the picture is great. Would probably be better if I has an S-Video connection. Also what speed are you burning at and what media? I know this player is known for player anything but I was having problems watching DVD rips burned at 12X and then I lowered it to 4X and it worked flawlessly. I don't know why but the first time I player VCDs on mine the image was all blocky and the picture was pretty bad and then it just started working, dont' know what happened.

  3. Sounds to me like poor quality media.

Try a high quality CDR (Verbatim Datalife Plus for example) and see if it does the same thing.
