    i have a video that is a .avi, 384x244, 32kb/s audio mp3, 25fps, 114kb/s video. the video is 13:00minutes and is 84MB.

i tried to use the avivo ati program to convert it to mp4 and wmv with no luck, all i got was audio. this avivo program said it was mpeg1 (vlc says it is xvid), but i am not sure.

any help would be greatly appreciated as this file does not need to be this large.

    thanks in advance

identify the avi with gspot. i don't think it's mpeg1.

try convert to a avi divx with for example dr.divx or to xvid with autogk. set the output size and convert.

if you want .mp4 you can use yamb to change to a mp4 container.

i notice that gspot has many different versions. any problem using the current 2.6 beta vs the 2.21 one with installer?

also, i had heard the autogk has spyware/malware in older releases, is this still and issue?

last, a friend told me about super - what are your thoughts on that? thanks in advance, bob

SUPER has a lot of perks that you have to use to "appreciate". Try Baldrick's suggestion first. And use the latest GSpot.

gspot reported it as xvid, and when i used yamb to convert it to x264, the file size was about the same...anyway to make it smaller by messing with quality a bit? 13MIN = 89MB seems a bit high to me, but i could be wrong.

thanks again for all the assistance,
    bob

mpeg-1, XviD and mp3 can all just be remuxed to mp4. No need to re-encode.
