  1. I created background video in Premiere Pro for a DVD menu which only consists of a bunch of high res pix being displayed on the screen. I exported the file into DV AVI and then converted it to mpg using TMPGenc Plus. Afterwards, I added it as the background video using TMPGenc DVD Author. But when I viewed the DVD files before burning, the quality was horrible. The pictures were blurry. What is the best way to keep the quality of the pictures when making a slideshow mpg file?

Without knowing all the settings you have used along the way, it is hard to diagnose where things might have gone pear-shaped.

A couple of things to consider

    1. Don't output to DV. Try using a lossless codec, or encoding directly to mpeg2 from Premiere Pro

    2. Use a high bitrate when encoding to mpeg2. Anything that uses fades or crossfades requires a high bitrate to look good, as do pans and zooms across stills.

    3. Check the quality of the DV version and the mpeg2 version from tmpgenc plus to see how it looks at each stage. Compare this to the final quality from TDA
