  1. The poll question is "in general", not political or about war or conspiracy.

I currently can't think of any reason why I would accept an ECI, so my answer would be no, but I hesitate to say never because it would depend on what the implant does and if I felt that reason was worth it.

All they have to do is prove some decent security and a good enough reason and I'm waiting in line.

If it's just an id type tag then probably not. If it contained critically needed medical info and the medical community had the readers in general use and it could help save my life with speedy treatment then I would seriously consider it

If they were trackable gps type nano devices then some parents might consider it for young children where alarms would go off if they stray outside certain boundaries and they would be easy to find. Similar (but more advanced) to external wrist/ankle devices young children can wear near pools etc... it doesn't replace supervision but if they get wet the alarm goes off.

I might tag my new car or other valuables to id them though.

No, not if the only purpose is to contain info. If it is something helping me (like a hearing aid, something to improve my eyesight or whatever in that direction) it might be interesting.

That already exists - it's called "real life".

    I'll take a chip implant...

...when they embed it in my cold dead hand.

I agree there are benefits, but the potential for misuse far outweighs any benefit for me. Even for medical applications, in order to be truly useful, it would have to be updateable as your health / medical status can change. You'd never really know just what information was there or who might be able to access it either to send or receive information.

    Thanks but no thanks.
Nothing can stop me now, 'cause I don't care anymore.
