Heck yea WinXP sp2 has a "System Restore" function! It was one of the best new things about XP. People had been begging for it.

Just go to Start>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools>System Restore. When you open it, a screen comes up with a choice of restore points, or you may create a new one then.

If you get automatic MS updates, then there should be a few restore points available for the past several days. And sometimes, some of your software will create restore points.

I often "create" my own restore points immediately after purging my system with AV and registry clean-ups. System Restore is an invaluable function, is very safe to use and works miracles. But, you really shouldn't need to use it that often. I don't let my system get that completely mucked up that often, but it has happened!

Remind you, when you restore to a previous date and time, any malware that was present at the time the restore point was created will be reintroduced to your registry. Also some of your recent work will disappear. So, when I use it, I do so as soon as I suspect a major screw-up so I don't lose much work.

CilyPudi said there were online indepth tutorials about how to most effectively use System Restore. I find it simple and most useful!
