I have a clip from the internet of a Spongebob sequence. It came in a mpeg file. I am borrowing a computer with Vegas 6.0 and everytime I try to add this to the timeline, I get a popup saying I need to register with Sony for a professional mpeg 2 encoder version 1.0. Is there a way around this, such as running the mpeg file through something before adding it to the Sony timeline?

I have found the imported file to be a mpeg1 mux file. I have never seen that designation. Am I looking to re-encode to say AVI.? If I go to another mpeg format, will I run into the same problem? What tool would you reccomend?

This is a borrowed laptop so I really can't do that nor do I know if it is a demo or not. Is there a conversion program I can use in the mean time?
