Just got new Sony 330, and on line 2, S input working fine, but on line 1 not working.
From DVD player, I plug in S cord to JVC player out to Sony S cord line 2. and then click input on Sony and I see the JVC player logo on line 2, But when I unplug from Sony line 2 and plug into Sony line 1, and then input to line 1, all see is gray screen.
I'd love a good tip on this as Sony probably wont help so much, and hate having to return another DVD recorder. They all seem to have "one" problem.

Check the Setup Menu (probably in the video section) to see if you have to set the line inputs for s-video or composite video. On some recorders (like JVC's), you have to specify which type you are going to use...

Yes! g, could not believe it. I called Sony and acutally got a guy, (at a call center no less in Asia) who explained this well. So bizarre, and what's weird is that line 2 is dynamic -- don't need to specify, both workon the fly, but line 1 needs to go through this chore -- but why? even he could not guess.
