I have Roxio easy dvd creator 6 and love it. BUT it only burns at 2x on my new pioneer 111d.

I've looked at a bunch of the freeware links in the tools section but they just don't match the simplicity. And I wasted a few discs on one because it defaulted to 1x burning speed!!

I would like to do Record Now 8 for $50 from Roxio because I like their programs. BUT if you have other recommendations for a quality BURN only app I'd be interested. (I do have imgburn installed and tried it but warned burning a ton of mp3 folders would "tie up the computer and take a long time" was the gist of the message).

So like I said if you can recommend a good $50 and under BURN only app I'd like to check it out - And Nero is too expensive for my needs. I don't need a full featured app I just need it to burn. Thanks.

Until about 30 mins ago, ImgBurn (in it's 'released' form) couldn't even burn anything but images.

Are you sure you've got the right tool?!

ImgBurn v2 can burn files and images. Maybe that'll do the job - and there's no message about backing up loads of files taking ages! lol

What I'm saying Yoda is that a new drive and OEM nero together would cost you under $50.

Just checked out the new version.

LIGHTNING UK! do you realize you are a slightly more user friendly interface from becoming one of the most awesome apps ever?

A free burn program that actually works...

  9. To me, the current UI is user friendly. You just have to be my kind of user!

People who like wizards should stick with other tools.

Mine are generally (I guess) for people who already know what they're doing and just like to go 'click' -> 'click' and it's done.

Max functionality, minimum messing about - and with more advanced options than anyone could ever need.

Trust me. The interface is fine to me, I'm talking about the dreaded "end user" type.

I was wondering that also when i first read it
How are you trying to burn files with ImgBurn

Even using ImgTool to make an ISO of all the folders with MP3's should not take any longer than making an ISO of dvd video files, which is not very long..... and a few minutes to burn afterwards....

What's up Yoda ? did ya fall down and bump yer head :P

I also never had a problem since day one even with DVD Decrypter, i alway's thought the user interface was pretty damn straight forward!!
Some programs you have to search and search to find half the options 8)
Gonna have to check out the new version of ImgBurn here in a minute

Ok ok it looks like I meant to say imgtool. I selected a bunch of folders and rightclicked and saw the burn with imgtool option available after I had downloaded it awhile ago. But it said it would take a long time to work so I didn't even try.

    I will check out prassis.

    Thanks everyone for the suggestions.

@handyguy - thanks but I don't need to buy a new dvd burner just to get a burning app.

I tried prassi and I love it! Simple and efficient. I think I'll get the full version.

    Thanks everyone.

    I just made a 6.19g ISO image with imgtool & it took 5m 20s.
I did not burn it but how long does it take to burn an ISO with ImgBurn @ 8X ?

Maybe running them as one it reports the wrong time ?

Sounds more like the media you are using is not supported/recognized by the burner. Check for a firmware update, or try different media before you spend money on another burning app. Of course, feel free to try freeware, but I doubt it will help improve the speed options. I might be wrong though, so it is worth a shot.

Well I tried and I loved it! I bought the full version of Prassi One. Great app. Just add the files and burn. 16x no problem. At $20 I'm a happy camper and I don't have a lot of bloatware with it. Just a burning app
