Hi, since a fresh install of windows i cannot get wmp 9 10 or 11 to play mpeg files. I simply get an "unknown error". I downloaded the utility to see which codecs I have installed and found these results. I seem to have a few installed but they still do not play. Perhaps I have too many installed?! I'm stuck, any help would be much appreciated.

Try setting Ligos as your preferred decoder. I would just use Media Player Classic because it has a built-in mpeg decoder, plus you could then bypass WMP all together. I haven't used it in years.
