Virtual Dub Freezes

[solysk]

Virtual Dub freezes after only a few minutes of capture. Also, I can't get the audio in sync with the video. It doesnt get progressivly worse but the audio always seems about .5 a second behind the video. Is my computer up to par in order to record decent video? Thanks for reading this post.

My computer stats are as follows:
Win 98 SE
1 gig AMD Athlon

I have the same problem. I also use Video Framer. Both programs lock up so bad that even a Ctrl Alt Del won't work.

I have an AMD K6 500 MHz. I was told that:

1) it was my motherboard
2) it was the AMD CPU
3) It wasn't either

The main consensus was: get another computer. No thanks.

I was told to try capturing at the minimum resolution, and at 5 FPS, to see what happened (supposedly even a 486 can do that). It worked for a few sdeconds more than normal, and then it locked up again.

I am wondering if a commercial software title would solve the problem. I mean, I have read reports about the free Real Player download not working on .rm films, but the next higher version (the one you pay for) working.

I was messing around a bit and tried Divx 4.0 Fast Motion codec and it seemed to work better. At least my computer doesnt lock up and refuse to shut down. I may have just gotten lucky, I dunno I'll try to figure out whats going on.
