A little criptic ... but you should head over to msi first .

http://www.msi.com.tw , and search for MS-6380 , it will lead to the driver download page eventually .

    The two available

VIA AC97 PCI Sound Drivers , and VIA Chipset 4in1 Drivers

You should be in admin account to make driver change's ...

Should your system be already using the 4in1 package from the motherboard cd , it is a good idea to atleast update them ... you simply run it , and xp will decide if they are better than those already running .

As for the audio , somewhere it was mentioned about not disabling the onboard audio in the bios if an add on pci card is installed ... a little strange , under normal method's it is disabled ...

Consult the mother board manual as to how to enter bios ... not all pc bios's are the same .

Download the audio package from msi , and run it ... again , xp will make it's own mind up about thing's and reboot the pc when done .

My advice would be update the 4in1 first and reboot , and check audio .

If audio still out , go into control panel , and uninstall the sound chip driver's ... say no to restart , then go to add/remove program's and remove the program related to the audio chip (mine just has the audio driver setup which I'll assume will take out vinyl deck app that mine come's with) , say no to any restart request's , then run the new audio package ... now let it restart , and see how it gose .

Of course none of this will help if there is an actual problem with the audio chip on the motherboard ...

    --------------

If you get down to this last problem , disable onboard audio in bios ... and grab a new pci sound card , just make sure it is fully compatable with your current os .

It's also a good idea if people refer to the motherboard manual's when it come's to installing addon card's ... just because there is a free slot or two , dosent exactly mean you can just shove one in it ... These slot's are paired up .

If motherboard onboard video in use
Agp slot and pci1 cannot be used .

If onboard n/a or disabled and agp is used
Pci1 still cannot be used (shared resource's)

Pci2 and Pci3 share again , so only one slot can be used .

For those with "full" motherboard's ...

Pci4 and pci5 share again , so only one can be used .

Doing it any other way risk's not only system resource conflict's , but could cost you either replacing the addon card , or worse , the motherboard .
