    Hi,

AviSynth 2.5.7 and 2.5.8 constantly crash for me when opening certain files with DirectShowSource(). But I the same files always work fine with 2.5.6.

I am wondering if this is a known issue?

    Cheers,
    Landrew

DirectShowSource uses the DirectShow filters installed on your system. Have you updated any recently - perhaps installed FFDShow or a codec pack ?

No. I've had this problem for a long time and across several system that had different configurations. Always 2.5.6 works fine, and 2.5.7 & 8 crash. I can toggle back and forth, uninstalling one version of AviSynth and installing a different version, and consistently reproduce the behavior.

Curious. I have had no problems with 2.5.7. I haven't installed 2.5.8 yet as it is still in beta.

Any particular codecs, or is it anything using DirectShow ?

Load filemon.exe (google for it) and look at what file Windows was accessing when the crash happens.

It might help if you posted a script that caused AviSynth to crash. Is there any error message, or does it just drop out? Also, if you posted your computer details properly, that may be of assistance in identifying the problem correctly.

I'm like gunslinger in that I am using the April 2, 2006 version of 2.57 (previous 2.57 releases had an install problem), and I don't experience any issues.

Have you posted over at doom9.org?
