    i had to trade in my (work) TV to get a DVD Recorder thinking i could monitor the activity (am about to embark on converting VHS to DVD) through my laptop (via Hauppauge WinTV USB) - which is what i did with the VCR setup.

    the problem now is i cannot do the same with the DVR - i have connected the DVR to the 'Hauppauge' via S-Video as i couldn't get a "signal" (through RF) like i did with the VCR - and can view the TV via the DVR as well as VCD - but *not* a DVD playing.

    is it just NOT possible, or am i missing some setting to enable the 'Hauppauge' to view the DVD output ?
