Hi, I have recently been using my new Toshiba Harddisk camcorder which captures footage in Mpeg2 NTSC. I want to start making some dvds to back up. I am not new with video editing but i am stuck. I normally use Vegas 6 and programs like DVD shrink and womble Mpeg-VCR.
I need a program please that i can mix the audio tracks of the mpeg2 files with some background music and also to be able to author a dvd. I am thinking something along the lines as Womle Mpeg wizard which i have but my fear is that it will reencode my video files which i do not which to rerender.
I usually use Adobe Encore dvd but that does not offer audio mixing facilities, and vegas 6 is mainly for avi files i find apart from being a fantastic multitrack editor for audio too.
I wish to find something simple where i can put all my mpeg files next to each other, add some transitions and have a spare audio track for mixing some music, and at the end do not have to re encode the video when saving the new file.
Is this possible without having to demux etc etc??
Many thanks indeed

ulead video studio has mixing ability if I remember right.
Of course you could do outside the authoring program.
You could use audacity or goldwave and mix the audio with your source mpg audio. Then simply remix it and then continue authoring as normal.Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw? -
Thanks. I tried Ulead Video studio but the problem was that i could not hear the mpeg audio part of the file at all. I could only hear the extra audio track i added to be mixed with the original. Why is that happening?
Thanks -

Womble MPEG Video Wizard will direct stream copy if the input is compliant with your chosen output.
With a project you describe it will probably re-encode the audio and direct stream copy the video if it's already DVD compliant.
It always tells you if it's going to re-encode or not somewhere in the export settings before you start the export.
New Womble MPEG Video Wizard DVD now also authors DVD's.
I think a better way to go is demux with TMPGEnc tools use any audio mixing tool you like that supports MP2 and remux with TMPGEnc tools.
